Assignments are Out + Brainstorming

parakaAs of right now, everyone should have gotten an email about their assignment.
Now it's time for authors and podficcers to start discussing their project. Here are a few things you might consider mentioning as you introduce yourself to your partner(s):
-What length is comfortable for each of you.
-How much time each of you is going to need. (The final deadline is six weeks from now—how much of that time should go to writing the words, and how much should go to creating the podfic?).
-What fandom (or multiple fandoms, in the case of crossovers) you want to work in.
-What ideas you want to try in crafting a story specifically for podfic: script or monologue format, integration of music and sound effects, conversational/storytelling tone, etc.
-Your strengths as a writer/performer.
-Your squicks/no-go zones.
-Past work you might want to share to get a sense of each other's style.
-How you want to work together.
Here are some suggestions for how to work together:
-You can chat to discuss possible storylines.
-You can beta for each other.
-the reader could test-record parts of the fic for the author as they write, and the author could use the feedback from those test-recordings to revise.
-the author could include notes and stage directions for the reader (especially if they want to leave out some of the "stage direction" type stuff from the speech tags, like writing "he said" instead of "he said suspiciously" and then giving the reader the note that that line is intended to be read suspiciously).
-the reader could record a "rehearsal" for the author, and the author could give directorial notes on how reader has interpreted the story. The two could discuss any points where they interpret it differently and the author might suggest adding nuance or trying out a different acting choice. Remember, though, the final decision on the writing choices belongs to the writer and the final decision on the acting choices belongs to the reader.
