Apparently their legal team is questioning whether or not they can simply host the Google player, like they were originally planning. Possibly they're planning on building their own, but that's not going to be done in time for us.
I'm pushing to have them white list one of my sites (the podfic.com link) so then we can have something that works, and the liability isn't on AO3 but they seem hesitant. There was also mention of them hosting the player for now, but changing it later? But that would result in more broken podfic links in the future.
Anyway, I think they'll be making a decision sometime today as to what they're going to do? But it's going to be right down to the wire it looks like.
