The weird of the day

So I mentioned the power was out sometime over the holiday and my freezer was full of frost. It must have been out longer than I thought because poking around I saw all the ice cream had melted everywhere but that's not the weird part.

No, apparently it was off so long that whatever blockage between the freezer and fridge melted (in spite of me having the fridge off all day once already) because the fridge is ICE cold (I had it on the highest setting just to get it to be slightly cool) I'm like what? What?!? How did you come back to life? It's still a mess but I'm going to let it limp along for now.

I found a manager special half off tray of devil's eggs (24 of them). I have never seen this before. NO ONE has seen this because all the cashiers and baggers were running over to see it. I wonder if this had been a special order that wasn't picked up. Either of way I'm gonna eat them all up.

I was halfway through making the new homework for the first week of the class but suddenly 50 questions into 90 of them (I pick and choose from the 90s to make the homework) the power fails. No reason. No high winds, no big storm. Just boom no power. Lose everything.

And I had just got the phone system working but then bang, the power goes out and the phone with it. Naturally the cell phone says 'no cellular connections.' ARGH

At least I got writing done but when the power went out at least I had handwritten back up for what hadn't autosaved

As horrible as the last week has been for America and the world in general I find myself in an awkward position of arranging the work conference and planning a vacation in spite of being afraid to literally go anywhere even within my own state let alone elsewhere. I can't be alone in this terrible feeling.

Goals for the long term

Here are my goals for the short term (over the next five years)

Leave the nursing home, get a house

Lose weight, Walk again, Lose Weight

Get weight loss surgery, the sleeve

Get my G.E.D

Go to college, take psychology, and English

Get a tattoo (I have an idea)

Get my lip pierced

Repierce my ears

get them double pierced possibly (I'm not into piercings like a lot of people. Like I don't want gauges)
get an eyebrow piercing (possibly)

Write a start up novel (Just something with my current skills, probably in romance with heterosexual and lgbtqa couples. I'm thinking something soap opera based, which is what most harliquen novels are)

Make friends

Build better habits (like brushing my teeth regularly, brushing and washing my hair, taking showers everyday)

Continue exercising and make it a habit

Reading more, focus on one book at a time

Start writing poems again, I'd like to study poetry prose

Invest money even if it's just a little

Learn to draw and practice almost everyday

Get back into cooking and baking

Get a puppy and two kittens with all shots and check ups spayed and neutered.

Start learning a second language with Rosetta stone

Take a class on graphic design

Work on freelancing after two years minoring in English for writing

Get a journal to write all these goals in

Expand my vocabularly (need a tutor)

Become part of a Coven (Wicca)

Learn to Garden

Learn to drive and save up for a car

Get my license

Long Term (in the next ten years)
Get a motorcycle and get my motorcycle license

See the Ocean

Go Camping

Learn more than two languages (thinking Spanish, Chinese, Japanese and French or Gaelic)

Move to New Orleans or California (Must invest first)

Buy a house (with six-seven rooms)

Get skin removal surgery

Get Transaffirming therapy, also get therapy for any issues I have (before I adopt) and Get on T

Go on a date

Get a boyfriend and eventually husband

Eventually marry whoever may be my soulmate

be a psychiatrist and make boku money doing it (or become a teacher, I have about six-eight months before I have to decide on a major. I may take four years of psychology to do therapy online and then four years to

be a business major so I can open my own publishing company. If I come into money or invest well, I'll just support authors who self-publish so they can market their books. it costs money)

Adopt four children: asian, asian indian, african american, south american and caucasian

Write my autobiography

Write a children's book for fifth graders and below

Write more serious fictional novels like horror, fantasy and scifi

Open my own publishing company that helps authors want to keep writing and focus on making novels

and That's all I can think of right now.

Snowflake Challenge 2026: Prompt 5

Snowflake Challenge: A mug of coffee or hot chocolate with a snowflake shaped gingerbread cookie perched on the rim sits nestled amidst a softly bunched blanket. A few dried orange slices sit next to it.

Challenge #5: In your own space, create a list of at least three things you'd love to receive, a wishlist of sorts.

Every single year I get to the wishlist challenge and go "but that's HARD, why can't people just read my mind and know what I want". If nothing else, I am very consistent! :D But I went and filled some wishes, so I guess it's time for me to make my own list.

1) The Predictable Writer Request: comments and/or kudos on any of my fic would make my day. I write for Transformers and Ace Attorney mostly, but there's a few smaller fandoms in there (if you like Redwall, I've got Redwall!).

2) Klavier/Daryan, Klavier/Daryan/Apollo, or Ema/Franziska icons (both from Ace Attorney). I lack the photo editing skills to do more than crop existing images to the right size, and there's very little promo art featuring those characters together (the woes of rarepair shipping, LOL).

3) The real long shot: transformative works based on any of my fics, whether that's art, moodboards, covers, whatever. Especially for Sonata in F You, which is my favorite thing I've ever written.

Snowflake Challenge 2026: Prompt 4

Snowflake Challenge: A mug of coffee or hot chocolate with a snowflake shaped gingerbread cookie perched on the rim sits nestled amidst a softly bunched blanket. A few dried orange slices sit next to it.

Challenge #4: Rec The Contents Of Your Last Page. Any website that you like, be it fanfiction, art, social media, or something a bit more eccentric!

Have you ever wished you could listen to the exact sounds of the scene you're trying to write? Add some appropriately themed ambiance to your D&D game or art project? Or just find some soothing rain noise or birdsong to listen to while you work, no, not that birdsong, a different bird, why doesn't this ONE BIRD exist on Youtube -

Anyway, try MyNoise! It's a collection of different soundscapes, from basic rain-and-thunder noises to settings like a medieval library, medieval village, or creepy dungeon. It's pretty much always open somewhere in my tab collection; I use it for writing, relaxing, blocking out annoying equipment noises at work, and when I feel like listening to something but not music per se.

No, I didn't wait until I could guarantee I had something cool in my tabs before I did this prompt, why do you ask?

Survived the day

That meeting started too early and went way too long. That said it wasn't as awful as it could have been. We spent too much time on active shooter drills, not because it's not important but because we keep getting promised changes that never happen. This time I held up my work key chain that has over 30 keys. HOW am I going to find the right key fast enough to not get shot trying? I was told we can buy that bolt lock for the inside of the door if we want one...ME? Jesus.

There might be enough money to keep my building from falling in. That's good to know.

The new football coach seemed to be a cross between a tent revival preacher and someone honestly wanting to rehab our team (you know the one that's been here 1 year, lost half to expulsion for bad behavior and this is our third coach!)

The AI training went on too long. SO long. We're instructors. We KNOW the brain can't handle 2 hours of lecture.

Came home to no phone and no functioning cell phone (I have a land line because 90% of the time the cell doesn't work out here).

Then into the writer's zoom where I mostly did editing of the novel. Still hoping for beta readers for the Overlook short story.

And I'll do fannish fan recs tomorrow because then I had to fight with kickstarter about my pledge (still isn't done) and fight with United health care which still thinks I'm a member and well now I am again but it took forever to update everything.

Such a frustrating day.

Lake Lewisia #1354

Being telepathic, the creatures had not developed the legal language of contracts, but that did not mean their help came with only a vague promise of mutual aid. Their representative handed her a blank page and a palette of paints. She was expected to paint a scene representative of their agreement, each brushstroke as complex as a well-placed Latin phrase and as binding as a signature.

Snowflake Challenge 2026: Prompt 3

Snowflake Challenge: A mug of coffee or hot chocolate with a snowflake shaped gingerbread cookie perched on the rim sits nestled amidst a softly bunched blanket. A few dried orange slices sit next to it.

Challenge #3: Write a love letter to fandom. It might be to fandom in general, to a particular fandom, favourite character, anything at all.

I'm not good at love letters - or letters at all, really! Epistolary has never been my strong suit. (Which is why this is late, haha. Shh, it's only by a few days!)

So I'll just say: complications and all, I'm glad fandom's here. I got started when I was a sheltered teenager who had no idea what I was getting into, and while fandom probably wasn't the best way to learn how the world worked outside the local homeschool group, it was definitely one of the kinder options. I've made all of my best friends through fandom at this point - first through Transformers, and then in Ace Attorney (which I was so nervous to get into, because I'd been into exclusively Transformers for a decade, and how did fandoms about humans even work? And then everybody was so lovely and welcoming). I've lost touch with a few of them over the years, but I still remember all of them. (If we ever talked back on FFN and you've found this somehow, I still think about you!)

Admittedly, I haven't really caught up to fandom on most social media these days. I never made it over to Twitter or Tiktok before -gestures at everything-, or the newer sites people seem to have migrated to from there. But I've found people on all the sites I do hang out on, and that's been really nice. So...thanks, fandom! Here's to another few decades.

Murderbot Pixel Art Icons

I made a couple of Murderbot icons! I'm happy for anyone to use them with credit.

Rebloggable on Tumblr.

Pixel art of Murderbot's helmet, with a light purple background and text that reads 'The Rise and Fall of Sanctuary Moon'. Pixel art of Murderbot's helmet with a blue background. Pixel art of Murderbot's helmet with blood splatters across its face, on a grey background.

I want to get more into making icons, does anyone have a recommendation for a free photo editor? I've been messing around with PicMonkey, but apparently you need a subscription to download your images.

2. My well stocked library for as small as we are (now I can do the prompt for a book about a popstar that I didn't give a damn with a graphic novel about queen)
